Information shared during sessions is confidential. However, there are legal limits to confidentiality, including:

  • Imminent risk of harm to yourself or others.
  • Suspicion of child or elder abuse/neglect.
  • Court orders.

3. Risks and Benefits

Therapy involves discussing unpleasant aspects of your life, which may initially lead to uncomfortable feelings. However, the benefits often include significant reduction in distress, improved relationships, and resolution of specific problems.

4. Consent
