Child and adolescent therapy — play-based for younger children, conversation-led for teenagers, with parents kept involved.
Children rarely arrive able to explain what is wrong in words, so younger children are worked with through play, drawing and structured activities. Adolescents are worked with conversationally, on terms that respect their growing need for privacy.
Parents are part of the process. You will be involved in the initial assessment and in regular reviews, and given practical strategies to use at home — but your child also needs space that is genuinely theirs, so not every detail of every session is reported back.
Where a formal psychological assessment would help — for ADHD, learning difficulties or developmental concerns — that can be arranged as part of the work.
You will be kept informed about themes, progress and anything that affects your child’s safety. The detail of what a child or teenager shares stays confidential, because that trust is what makes the therapy work.
